Angelic Knits

My MumHello, my name is Angelique. Let me share with you my inspiration. As a young girl I spent countless hours watching my “mum” knit. I was fascinated, captured at first by the art. It was incredible to watch the soft yarn uncoil and become something amazing. As she taught me her craft, my fascination rekindled, but for entirely different reasons.

As I learned how to knit, I struggled immensely, yet my mum effortlessly made the most intricate patterns and designs time and time again. "How could she be so good?", I wondered. At times I felt discouraged in her presence, sometimes I felt like throwing down the needles and never picking them up again.

She wouldn’t have it! Mum taught me so many things. I learned to knit, but I also learned humility, perseverance, and integrity. “Anything worth doing, is worth doing right”, those words still ring in my ears. My mum ingrained in me the importance of quality;consequently, I learned to not have a "it's good enough" mindset. Frankly, if I could do better than I should do better.

My mum is my guardian angel. She walks with the Lord now, but every time I pick up my knitting needles I feel her presence beside me, and I know that she is there guiding my hand.

My babyNow I have a beautiful young child who holds the same fascination that I did at her age. I am passing on to her the knowledge that my mum passed on to me.

As she struggles to learn the craft I sometimes hear her say, “I’ll never be as good as you are mom”. With a gentle smile I encourage her, “someday you will be better than me, sweetie”.

She is my little angel.
